Why I Built a TikTok Rules GPT

TikTok has a lot of rules.

There are rules for regular content, TikTok Shop, AI-generated content, product claims, commercial disclosures, prohibited products, pricing, and more.

And the frustrating part is that those rules can change.

So I started thinking about a simple question:

Can AI help me understand TikTok rules without pretending it knows everything?

Because if you just ask AI, “Is this allowed on TikTok?” you can get an answer that sounds very confident.

That does not always mean the answer is current or correct.

So instead of trying to build an AI that memorizes every TikTok rule, I built one with a different job.

I want it to help me:

• Understand rules in plain English
• Review a post before I publish it
• Spot questionable claims
• Check AI and disclosure issues
• Tell me when something still needs official verification

The most important rule I gave it is simple:

Never invent a TikTok rule.

That one instruction changes the whole way I use AI for TikTok.

The 4 Labels That Keep AI From Guessing

I do not want my TikTok assistant giving me one giant answer and acting like every sentence is official policy.

So I make it separate information into four categories.

1. Official Rule

This means the information is supported by current official TikTok or TikTok Shop information.

2. Recommendation

This is advice that may be useful, but it is not being presented as something TikTok officially requires.

3. Creator Observation

This is something creators may report seeing or experiencing, but TikTok has not necessarily confirmed it as a platform rule.

4. Needs Verification

This is the category I probably care about the most.

If the AI cannot confidently verify something, if the rule may have changed, or if the answer depends on a specific program or market, I want it to say so.

For example:

I could not verify this as a current official TikTok requirement.

I would rather see that than get a polished answer based on an assumption.

This also helps with all the creator theories that float around online.

You have probably heard things like:

• TikTok stops videos at 300 views
• AI videos automatically get suppressed
• You have to use a certain video length
• TikTok does not like a certain editing style

Maybe some creators have seen those patterns.

That still does not automatically make them official TikTok rules.

What My TikTok Rules GPT Actually Checks

I do not want the assistant looking at only the spoken script.

A TikTok video communicates through a lot more than what someone says out loud.

For a TikTok Shop video, I want it to check things like:

• Spoken words
• Voiceover
• On-screen text
• Caption
• Visuals
• Product demonstrations
• Product claims
• Pricing and discount claims
• AI-generated elements
• Commercial disclosures
• The product shown in the video
• The product being linked

That matters because a video can create a misleading impression without anyone actually saying something false out loud.

Personal Experience Matters Too

If I have not used a product, I do not want the AI suddenly writing:

I have been using this for weeks and I love it.

If I did not use it, that is not true.

Instead, I want it to use wording like:

• The package says…
• The manufacturer lists…
• This product is designed to…
• Here is what you get…
• One feature that stands out is…

AI Should Help With Content, Not Fake Evidence

I use AI in content creation, and I think it can be incredibly useful.

It can help with scripts, hooks, voiceovers, graphics, presenters, editing, and research.

But I do not want AI making a product look like it does something it cannot actually do.

I also do not want fake endorsements, fake experts, fake results, or fake firsthand experience.

The product footage should still be the evidence.

The Pre-Post Check

This is probably the part of the system I find most useful.

Before I post, I can give the AI the actual details about the video and ask it for one of three answers:

READY

No major issue was identified from the information I gave it.

READY WITH CHANGES

The idea can still work, but something should be fixed before posting.

DO NOT POST

There is a significant issue that should be resolved first.

I also want it to tell me exactly what caused the problem.

Was it a sentence?

A price claim?

A product mismatch?

An AI-generated visual?

A disclosure issue?

That way I can fix the actual problem instead of rebuilding the whole video.

A Simple Prompt You Can Try

Review this TikTok before I post it.

Check the spoken words, on-screen text, visuals, product claims, pricing claims, linked product, AI usage, and commercial disclosures.

Do not invent TikTok rules.

Separate official rules from recommendations and creator observations.

Give me one answer: READY, READY WITH CHANGES, or DO NOT POST.

If something may have changed or cannot be verified, mark it NEEDS VERIFICATION and tell me which official TikTok resource I should check.

You do not have to build a custom GPT to start using this idea.

You can test it in a regular AI conversation first.

It can help you spot problems.

It can help you ask better questions.

But I would not let AI become the final authority on TikTok policy.

If something depends on a current rule, verify it with TikTok.

Use AI as the assistant. Let TikTok remain the authority.
